Thresholds, managers and notifications
How to tune thresholds, why and how to mark managers, and how alert emails and the weekly summary work.
How do I change a threshold?
Settings → Thresholds. Change the amount, percentage, hours or minutes and select Save settings. New thresholds apply from the next review (within 15 minutes). Existing alerts are not re-evaluated or removed.
What thresholds should I use?
Start with the defaults for two weeks, then adjust any rule that produces mostly ordinary activity. A large-refund threshold near your average ticket, and a discount threshold just above your biggest regular promotion, are sensible for most businesses.
Why mark managers?
Managers approve comps, override prices and void mistakes for everyone, so their refund, discount and void rates are legitimately higher. Marking them excludes them from the per-employee rate comparisons (R12, R14, R15) and keeps them out of the store average. Their transactions are still covered by the threshold rules.
How do I mark a manager?
Employees → Mark as manager next to the name. The change applies from the next review. If someone stops being a manager, use Unmark as manager. Managers detected from Clover's own Manager or Admin roles are marked automatically on first install; you can change that.
Which emails does the app send?
Two kinds, both purely informational. Alert emails, sent as they happen for alerts marked Activity risk: high (you can widen that in Settings), and one weekly summary at the day and hour you choose, sent even when nothing was flagged so that silence means quiet, not broken. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, honoured immediately.
Can several people receive emails?
Yes. Add up to 10 addresses in Settings → Notifications, separated by commas. Each address can unsubscribe independently.
I unsubscribed by mistake.
Settings → Notifications: remove the address, save, add it again, save. The address is active again immediately.
