Getting started
Installing from the Clover App Market, what happens in the first hour, and the three settings to check on day one.
How do I install it?
Open the Clover App Market from your Clover web dashboard (or clover.com/appmarket while signed in), find Cash Over Short, choose a tier and select Connect. Clover shows the permissions requested: read access to employees, orders, payments and merchant details. Approve them and Clover opens the app. Every paid tier starts with Clover's 30-day free trial, billed through Clover afterwards.
What happens right after installing?
The app reads your last 45 days of transactions. That usually finishes within a few minutes; a very busy multi-location business can take up to an hour. Alerts from rules that need no history (large refund, large discount, open check, refund shortly after sale, no-sale drawer open) appear as soon as the review finishes. Rules that compare employees with the store average switch on once each employee has 50 transactions in the last 30 days.
What should I set up on day one?
- Settings → Notifications: add the email addresses that should receive alerts and the weekly summary.
- Employees: mark your managers. Managers are excluded from the per-employee rate comparisons because they legitimately approve more refunds, discounts and voids.
- Settings → Employee notice: confirm that staff have been given any written notice of monitoring your state or province requires. A ready-to-adapt template is linked from that page.
How do I open the app later?
From your Clover web dashboard, open the app from the left-hand app list. Opening it from Clover is what signs you in; the app has no separate password.
Who can see the dashboard?
Anyone who can open the app from your Clover dashboard, which Clover controls through its own employee permissions. Cash Over Short does not add its own user accounts in this version.
